B2B Junior Journalist – Travel News & Tourism Update

About the Role
As a Junior Journalist, you’ll research and write news for Travel News and Tourism Update, our business-to-business publications serving the travel and tourism industry.
You’ll interview industry stakeholders, identify newsworthy angles, attend events and turn complex developments into clear, useful stories for a professional audience. You’ll work closely with experienced editors who will support the development of your reporting, writing and industry knowledge.
This is an office-based position in Johannesburg. The role involves attending industry functions, launches and press briefings during the day and occasionally in the evening. Reliable access to your own transport is therefore essential.
What We’re Looking For
· A relevant bachelor’s degree. A journalism degree is advantageous but not essential.
· One to two years’ practical writing experience gained through journalism, internships, freelance work, communications, content creation, student publications or a similar environment.
· An excellent command of written and spoken English.
· Curiosity and an instinct for finding newsworthy angles.
· Confidence to contact people, conduct interviews and follow up on information.
· An interest in business, current affairs and the economics of travel and tourism.
· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
· Good organisational skills and the ability to meet daily deadlines.
· An outgoing, professional approach and willingness to attend industry events.
· A valid driver’s licence and reliable access to your own transport.
Knowledge of the travel, tourism or aviation sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
